The sourness is all around
Unmistakeable scent of death
Tangy and putrid
Burning my nose and esophagus
It seeps into my lungs
Slowly taking over my insides
My mouth waters
Vomit rises
A cloud of stench forms
Black wispy hands
Reaching for my throat
Suffocating slowly
It squeezes intensely
Lack of air tightens my chest
Full panic sets in
As I reach for the phone
The familiar voice centers me
I can roll down the window
The fresh air envelopes me
Reminds me it’s not real
He’s been gone a while
The aroma forever lingers
Another taunt reminder
My now solitary life
