POEM – Relearning How to Walk

I’m relearning how to walk I’m Bambi on ice The balance is less than steady The surface slick and wet I took a shower Bestie was there to fill the empty space I washed my hair by myself I’m relearning how to walk I laid in the bed Sounds of your snores mixed in with…

I’m relearning how to walk

I’m Bambi on ice

The balance is less than steady

The surface slick and wet

I took a shower

Bestie was there to fill the empty space

I washed my hair by myself

I’m relearning how to walk

I laid in the bed

Sounds of your snores mixed in with Luke’s

Sleep came in short shifts

I’m relearning how to walk

I cooked breakfast

Days of taking out ingredients

Then putting them back uncooked

I’m relearning how to walk

I drove in the car

Music was playing instead of loud silence

Just one safe song on repeat

I’m relearning how to walk

I haven’t done the store

The bar or a concert

Those things are too slippery

I’m relearning how to walk
