POEM – BAM!

I’m walking down the street Minding my own business Then BAM! I’m on my knees in a daze Grief stands over me She wears an evil grin The tears flow The chest tightens I try to get up One foot is flat Then BAM! I’m on my knees in a daze Grief is now laughing…

I’m walking down the street

Minding my own business

Then BAM!

I’m on my knees in a daze

Grief stands over me

She wears an evil grin

The tears flow

The chest tightens

I try to get up

One foot is flat

Then BAM!

I’m on my knees in a daze

Grief is now laughing

“She thought she was done”

The tears flow

The chest tightens

I’ve managed to stand up

I’m down the block

Then BAM!

I’m on my knees in a daze

Grief is now angry

“Stop trying to outrun me”

The tears flow

The chest tightens

I’m almost home

The walk has been peaceful

Then BAM!

I’m on my knees in a daze

Grief holds out her hand

She helps me to my feet

The tears flow

The chest tightens

We walk arm in arm

A comfortable existence

Then BAM!

I’m on my knees in a daze

I have no control

My life is not my own

The tears flow

The chest tightens
