My parents now live in their own individual box.

They rest on my shelf and guard the house.

The dogs are drawn to that area.

I’ve seen her standing over their kennels.

She is quiet and dark, a comforting presence.

Luke’s anxiety vanishes, Penny stares deeply.

I see her out of the corner of my eye.

I feel her behind me as I walk out the door.

I can’t say for sure, I only listen to my heart.

I know it’s my mother, her energy is strong.

The dark figure only comes when she thinks I’m gone.

But I see her. I feel her. I know she is there.
